Minor Operations Clinic
Dr Mitchell runs this clinic. Its main remit is to remove benign skin lesions under local anaesthetic if they are causing problems such as pain, infection, bleeding or catching on clothes. If you have any lumps/bumps which are giving you these sorts of problems, or if you are worried about the possibility of cancer, please make a normal appointment to see Dr Mitchell. She will book you in to the clinic if your lesion needs removal or biopsy. Please do not ask her to operate for purely cosmetic reasons.
We regularly monitor patients on warfarin at this clinic.
Many people treat their own minor illness - coughs, colds, diarrhoea, aches and pains etc by going to the pharmacist for medicines. We think this is correct and by doing this you will leave the practice team free to cope with more serious problems. Your local pharmacist knows a lot about minor remedies so consult the pharmacist first but if your symptoms persist contact your own doctor. Don’t forget that if something is troubling you but you are unsure whether to see the doctor, you can make an appointment with the nurse.
Early diagnosis is important. However, we sometimes see people who come too early, either before we can make a diagnosis or before they have given the illness a chance to get better on its own.
